Counselling & Psychotherapy
Counselling and psychotherapy sessions offer you a confidential and safe setting in which to talk about life’s obstacles which may be confusing and painful. By confiding in someone who is trained to listen considerately, it may help to improve things.
It is a very personal process. Therapy may require you to talk about painful feelings and make difficult decisions, which might make you feel worse in the short-term. Usually it will take a number of counselling sessions before therapy starts to make a difference. However on rare occasions, a single session may be enough.
Therapy doesn’t work for everybody. But it is often worth the effort as you can be helped to work through problems. There are different methods and approaches to therapy, and our two counsellors Trevor Lyon-Smith & Sarah Atkinson-Clark will be able to talk to you about his/her own methods of approach.

Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy and closely related brief therapies called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Time Line Therapy are simple yet powerful methods for enabling change. Every thought, action and emotional, response whether positive or negative, occurs through using combinations of our five senses. We frequently operate on ‘auto pilot’ without realising how we have acquired a particular ability or lack of it.
The self same mental process that has unconsciously produced an unwanted thought, habit or reaction can be ‘reprogrammed’ to obtain a reversal. All that the client needs is a serious desire to make the change.
Our colleague Robin How offers the opportunity for an appointment that begins with a confidential history related to the problem or issue. If there is a mutual agreement to commence with treatment, it can follow immediately, after which a fee is payable. Sometimes a problem can be resolved in one consultation. Naturally, others may need a limited number of sessions.
